Hotels and resorts are rarely full – in fact, most have a 70% occupancy rate (remember Airbnb has significantly impacted the hotel industry!).
But of course, they’re always open with fixed costs for wages, electricity, air conditioning, cleaning & so forth.
And they nearly always have rooms available.
So we help fill those rooms through promotional incentives like this.
And the resorts then hope to make money from guests dining in their restaurants, ordering room service, drinking in their bars, going on hosted tours, enjoying the day spas and having snacks around the pool.
In other words, the Hotels and Resorts are happy to forego margin on their room, based on the expectation of guests spending money elsewhere on the premises.
Most of the hotels in this program allow 4 x people per room
(2 adults & 2 children).
In the luxury hotel industry, profits don’t come from “nightly rates” – the resorts & hotels are always hoping to make money from food, beverages, amenities & services.
Hence, they’re happy to practically “give away” their unsold rooms, with the expectation that the guests will spend money on food, drinks & amenities.

But don’t worry, they’re fair & reasonable.
1. Most hotels won’t have availabilities during the busy Christmas & school vacation periods – because during these times, they don’t have empty rooms to give away.
We recommend that your customers choose nights between Sunday & Thursday – if they want to include a “peak night” of Friday or Saturday, there’s a modest surcharge.
Why? Because Fridays & Saturdays are busy days & therefore resorts don’t have many empty rooms available.
Remember, this promotional package is a cross-promotion that’s based on a “WIN/WIN/WIN” basis, where the hotels give up rooms for tiny rates at times when they have vacancies (mainly Sunday to Thursdays outside of school vacations).
The idea is for your business to WIN, your customers WIN & the resort WINS.
Keep in mind your customers have 5 nights during most weeks to enjoy their break without any surcharge.
2. There are nightly “Taxes & Booking Fees” for all resorts. These fees & taxes are a hospitality industry standard & entail, but are not limited to – payment to reservation engines for the booking process (the likes of Expedia, Booking.com & so forth), travel agency fees & housekeeping.
Nightly taxes & fees differ from state to state in the US – but are generally between $32 and $65.
International hotels’ nightly taxes & fees are also applicable.
You are no doubt aware that “booking fees” are commonplace in many industries, whether it be theatre, concerts, airlines, cinemas or hotels.
In this instance, although the room is free, when a reservation engine (like Expedia for example) is involved, understandably there’s a booking fee.
